Marketing Candy by Strawberry Variety in Japan

I have to concede that from what I've seen lately, Japanese candy vendors really know their craft when it comes to quality and marketing.  Just recently we had sent to us a strawberry caramel candy being marketed by the name of the most popular strawberry variety in Japan "Amaou"; translate that as"King Sweet".

For California growers used to varieties named after beaches, landmarks, famous strawberry personalities or just plain numbers, it is striking to have a strawberry not only carry a name referring to its flavor but even more, have this name carried forward on to a candy.  How about it CA strawberry breeders?

And how is the candy, you ask?  I'll let you know when I am finished with the bag.
